The Public Utilities Commission met with Commissioners Kerr and Mason. They ordered payments for hydro and insurance items totaling 1,003.13 and 9142.05. A letter from the Ontario Commission notes the substation is fully loaded and asks for a six to twelve month cost rise estimate. A large crowd gathered on April 3 2020 at the Parish Hall to honor Mr Thos Marshall and Mrs Elkateth Dobbin on their golden wedding. Several locals hosted or visited in a weekend pattern, while George Dilton underwent appendicitis surgery at Guelph hospital and is recovering. Jack Wardle returned from exams at Queen's University and will attend convocation on May 14 before spending summer in Stanley, N B.
Millen dispatch reports Provincial Highways Department surveyors taking levels and measurements on Main and Martin Streets in Millen. Indications point to extending the Palermo Milton highway to Acton via Milton, through residential districts, with a turn north at the Acton Post Office.
A midnight blaze destroyed the vacant OW Tavern at the south corner of Acton Crossroad and Seventh Line. Neighbors woke owner absent. the 100 year old building burned to the ground. Origin undetermined. suspicious incendiary or carelessness suspected. Acton Girl Guides adopt the name The Acton Star Company of Girl Guides. Orchid Patrol leads Ivy Patrol in a close contest with good spirits at a meeting last Wednesday.
