Oldest Canadian woman Agnes Young dies at 106 in Ballinafad
Agnes Young aged 106 died at Ballinafad after her daughter Barbara's death two days earlier. She would have turned 107 on September 1. Born in Chin Guacousy Township, Peel County, she aided her husband James Young on the farm, remained active into her nineties, recalled the 1837 rebellion, wore a gold breach from her marriage, and left son James and four daughters Maud Annie Janet and Jennie with Barbara predeceasing her.

Erin Township Council met in Hullsburg on April 17 1939 to inspect roads and bridges, transfer funds to Hillsburg Police Village, authorize overdue debentures payment, and grant sums to the Erin Agricultural Society and Salvation Army Rescue Home. They advanced rent money to the Telephone Commissioners for 1939 and approved miscellaneous and relief accounts.
