Acton Milton Georgetown Nassagaweya and Esquesing assessors met to settle five municipality levies for the North Halton High School District. They proposed 1951 levies with gains and cuts from last year, subject to council approval, or arbitration if rejected.

Obituary of Mrs John J Dunn Tusk Acton
Mrs John J Dunn, longtime resident of Acton, died March 22 at her home on Main Street after a long illness. Born Mary Jane Gibbens, she was predeceased by husband John J Dunn and son John Po. Survived by daughters Anne and Trene, granddaughter and sister Mie Trene Gibbens, brothers Peter and Charles Cobbens. Requiem sung at St Joseph’s Church with burial at local cemetery.

Acton's 125-Year-Old Maple Falls to Modern Progress
A Cedar yule Tree Surgeons powered through a 125 year old maple at the corner of Aull and Elgin Streets in Acton. The town’s second oldest tree on Mull Street, a soft maple, is also removed to make way for Merc hants' Bank. Nearby trees on Peel Street and by the tannery dam have already been felled this week. Residents note Acton’s history passing as trees are cut.

Neighboring Farms Change Hands in District Auction
Several farms in the district recently changed ownership. James Mann sold his 100 acre farm east of Acton to James D. Emslie of Norval who takes possession now. Storey, Bower Ave sold his farm in Nassagaweya to Upshall of Brampton who also gains immediate possession. Melvin Storey bought the 2000 acre Guelph Road Nassagaweya farm known as the McPhedran farm, with division set for June 1.

Guelph Fire Ravages MacDonald Block Causing 300000 Loss
A major blaze in Guelph destroyed six business premises and a two storey block near the C R I L station, starting in a feed store and spreading to offices of the Mercury. About 100 residents were displaced but later returned as smoke and flames hindered firefighters.

Train wreck near Guelph injures Rockwood driver
Clem Parson of Rockwood escaped with minor injuries after his car was dented into a U shape by a train on York Road level crossing outside Guelph last week. A second vehicle blocked by trucks crossed before the incident was realized, and both trains and cars suffered damage.

A rain slick on Highway No 7 caused a two car collision Sunday near Danang. Margaret Dixon of Milton drove the other vehicle and Blake Smith of Brampton was involved in the second car. Both cars sustained damage and one person was injured while police investigated the scene.

The Rand Nelson Marston Band of the United Church held an Easter bank offering service on Monday evening. The president Ge Poster led the program with scripture read by Linda Lavell and participation from Paul McGeachie Wayne Gordon Norma Cummingh im Gordon Hufnagel Mac lorie Cutting Marie Lambert and Hetham. Miss B Hiltz spoke to the children and presented the Star certificate of recognition for 1950. The offering was taken by Terry Waterhouse and Johans Mite Arthur Lanterstiles entitled Round the World with the sare cuff each shade told how Mr Waterhouse was of the praying party.
