The Acton Chamber of Commerce hosts the eighth Citizen of the Year dinner on Thursday April 8 at the Legion Hall. Dr McKinnon dean of the new Wellington College at the University of Guelph will speak on the university’s impact near Acton. The event features the Citizen of the Year plaque for Hill Middleton and a Royal Canadian Choraliers performance. Tickets go on sale through the chamber president and arrangements chairpersons with limited seating.

Three Year Contract Signed Pay Raises for Hydro Staff
The Acton hydro commission approved a three year contract for journeyman linemen Dor son Frizzell and Ken Hodgson with wage increases totaling 30 cents over three years starting April 3. Superintendent Doug Mason secretary treasurer Audrey Urquart and meter reader Newt Hurst also received pay raises. Architect Don Skinner discussed bids for a new building and authorized signing with the architect for 6 percent of the building cost.
