May Day At Atholtyn Acknowledges Queen and Community Festivities
The May Day event at Atholtyn featured a crowned May Queen Miss Margaret Smith, amid a daylong program in Alexandria hall. Dances, drills, songs, and a grand evening dance with a five-piece orchestra entertained hundreds of children and elders. The L. B. Orphanage participants, including four young girls who drank afternoon tea, highlighted performances under Rev. Mr. Robertson’s supervision. The day concluded with sports on the grounds and a football match ending in a draw.

Fourteen tables of whist were played with Mrs Swift taking the ladies first prize and Miss Urquhar the consolation prize. Mr Smith won the gentleman's trophy and Frank Party as consolation. Prizes totaled $19 raised. Mrs Weele and Mrs Webster hosted. May 80th hosts another event at Masonite hall. Jessie Anderson of Bellingham visits Miss Margaret Smith for May Day.

Government For Adequate Street Lighting In Abbotsford
At a wall attended meeting of Abbotsford District Board of Trade a request was made to the Government for adequate lighting due to increased traffic and level railway crossing danger. A committee was formed to study incorporation as Abbotsford grows. The mosquito problem was raised and a fund will be raised with Sumas council to treat ponds. A Vancouver daily report on Matsqui dyke erosion was noted, with no observed danger to the dyke.
