In Abbotsford grounds on the 12th Matsqui defeats Abbotsford 5 to 4 after a fast, mixed game with slippery footing. Goalie heroics from both sides kept the score tight, Matsqui pulling ahead in the final quarter.
The Associated Board of the Royal Academy and Royal College of Music examinations in Abbotsford show pupils of Miss Steele and Miss McLean excelling. Names include Harold Cobley May Widberger Annie Hart Constance Carter Myrtle Fraser Helen Murphy Bertha Ayling Isabella Fraser Helen McCallum Edith Peele Mabel Nelson Phyliss Hill Tout James Hill Tout Mildred Hill Tout. Mr and Mrs Zeigler hosted Capt and Mrs McKenzie during a Sunday visit in Mission City.
Abbotsford hosted a large Orange Order celebration with bands, a parade led by Bro D Campbell on horseback, and speakers including Bro Bush and Bro Stevenson. The event marked the 223rd anniversary of William of Orange's victory at the Boyne and included a lacrosse match and a grand ball at the Masonic hall.
The Matsqui council met in the agricultural hall at Gifford on Monday July 14 with all members present. Minutes were adopted and communications reviewed including provincial secretary affidavits. The council discussed a subdivision plan donation of 3300 funds for hill cutting, road appropriations, and tax sale reports.
