Annual Conservative Convention Date Set for March

Mission City hosts executive meeting for the Conservative Association to fix the annual convention date. Delegates from across the riding are expected, with over fifty attending from various communities including Mission City and Agassiz, Port Coquitlam, Pitt Meadows, and Harrison Hot Springs.

Passing of the Late Mrs Eliza Griffiths in Vancouver

The obituary notes the sudden death of Mrs Elizabeth Griffiths at age thirty three after an operation. Born in Port Arthur Ontario she moved west in 1892 with her parents and lived near the Canat area. She leaves two sons. The body arrived in Vancouver aboard the Chekamous with a Union Jack on the casket as a tribute. The burial occurred at Musselwhite Cemetery with Rev Campbell officiating in front of many relatives and friends.

Council Considers Road Improvements and Drainage

At Saturday’s meeting the Mossrs Behmer Gustafson and Wagstrom presented a petition to upgrade Bell road from Harris road to the Slough with the petitioners offering to prepay part of the costs and accept tax credit when levies are due. Councillors Owen and Melander ordered a site visit to specify work and request tenders with conditions for payment by the petitioners.

Vancouver Election Void Declares Mayor Taylor Unseated

Justice Clement ruled the Vancouver mayoral election of L. D. Taylor void after objections over his qualifications. A new election for mayor must be held within 23 days of the unseating. Taylor intends to run again and is favored to win by a larger majority.

Messrs Renner and King are candidates for the goose club. The local Masons held an Indies social in the Masonic Hall Tuesday night. Tonight February 19 True Blue Concert at Garley Hall. Ard contingent joins A G Adams who worked for CPR. A logging camp reopened at Ware. timber hauled to the A T and T Co mill. Odd Fellows lodge to be visited by Grand Master White next week. Mission visitors expected. funeral of Mrs John Walker of Kilgard Saturday. Mrs B B de la Glrovay booked Garley Hall for a Belgian aid concert March 10. L G Rayner of Port Ham fond, county treasurer, in Abbotsford from Chilliwack convention. Abbotsford dramatic club active with twenty friends practicing sketches for the ladies. Lenton Teugivel at St Matthews Church observed with a well attended service led by Rev G F Yates.
