New Westminster market crowded for Christmas Feast with abundant poultry and vegetables. Prices for geese up to 46 cents a pound, ducks 30 cents, turkey absent, veal and pork plentiful, parsley and sacks of vegetables common. Reeve candidate notes a lively race, aiming to defeat opponent. market prices largely steady with variable poultry offers.
In Clayburn residents were roused when the barber shop caught fire from a faulty stove. Owner Elmer Hartnel slept upstairs and had to be awakened and helped to escape with his clothes as flames engulfed the building. He plans a new shop next year.
A crowded schoolhouse held a festive Christmas gathering last Thursday with the Purver boys delivering a tree and gifts for local children. Misses Stare and Elliott led a prepared program, praised by all for the joyous, well-attended evening and look forward to next year.
A special meeting of the Board of Trade will be held in the Board rooms on Wednesday January 3 for the transaction of important business piled on the secretary’s desk. The Sumas Dyking scheme is among the matters under resolution and is of vital importance to Abbotsford. good attendance is requested to address these issues promptly.

A public meeting is planned at the Mardquin public hall on Friday at eight o clock to discuss municipal matters. Voters are urged to attend, express views, and question candidates as local elections approach with J Hargitt and Councillor Aish considered as potential Reeve and Councillor candidates.
A provisional officers list includes President A S Rankin and a committee of Bunce Guillis Gollin Henderson Lundgren Purdy Stevenson Bolmte and Williamson. Monthly meetings to be at Haney and Hammond on the hat Saturday, annual fee one dollar. Mr Miller Higgs of the Provincial Department of Agriculture spoke on cooperation and association work. Also notes Mrs Hedlor Mackenzie bought a house for his family move to Abbotsford and Mr Colvis mourns the death of 22 months old last Saturday.
