Abbotsford Red Cross Auxiliary Meets for Large Work Group
Abbotsford auxiliary of Red Cross held a Thursday meeting at Mrs. Boydon's home with 16 members from Abbotsford and Huntingdon. Three sewing machines operated for three hours making hospital shirts as funds were allocated for wool and other needs. Next meeting set for next Thursday at 8 pm at Mrs. Boyd's. donations noted from Sparrow Hill Towt and M Campbell among others.

The August report lists receipts from sales of pictures and letter supplies totaling 164.00 with expenses for ice cream small flags ribbon Demers and sugar and hired help, leaving a balance of 120.75. Gifts of supplies and help were generously given by many banks and individuals, including Mr C H Hall of Harrison River and Mr F Boulter who is visiting Hope. Mr Boulter has bought a Ford, collected by Geo F Pratt. further subscriptions will be acknowledged next issue.

Sunday School Picnic At McCrimmon Grove Near DeLair
The Presbyterian and St Pauls Sunday Schools gathered with Musselwike Kilgard and Whatcom Road representatives on Wednesday the 11th at McCrimmon Grove near DeLair. Over 100 children and parents enjoyed tables by a running stream, with games and a baseball match between married and single women. A free ice cream feast followed, won by the married ladies as the bat dropped. The group discussed creating a permanent town park at the site for a summer resort. Awards were given in games across age groups, with names listed for 11, 12, 8, 6 year categories, and consolation honors.

Our widely known head of the Great Northern Railway Mr W Longfellow suffered a severe mishap on Tuesday when a nail in a board caused a fall and left his hand stuck until a dramatic pull freed it. He endured a stormy medical exam but recovered to sit up and take notes.
