Week in Calgary Fruit Trade Sees Slim Demand and Surplus
A Calgary market report notes dull movement of fruit this week with many consignments arriving soft and mouldy. Prices slipped after expectations of tighter seven year supplies, while berries suffer from heavy jobbing, shortages of good stock persist, and cherries and Saskatoon berries begin entering wholesale channels with limited crop quality. A carload of apricots from Washington is expected, and new greens are arriving by express.
