Swift v Fernridge Lumber Company verdict in Westminister court
In Westminister county court Judge Howay awarded Dr. Swift of Abbottford judgment against Fernridge Lumber Company Limited for professional services after an injury at a Fernridge mill in Alder Grove. The court ruled that immediate aid by a physician is payable regardless of humanitarian motive, and that the statute of frauds did not apply. The case proceeds to appeal. The Westminster Presbytery and synod schedule meetings in Vancouver next week.

Rival Power Feud Disrupts Abbotsford Night Scene
On a Tuesday evening in Abbotsford two rival firms the British Columbia Electric Railway and Western Canada Power Company clashed over a night operation. Workers cut and removed iron pipes housing cables along the right of way east of the BCER station, piling debris as lights were used. Canada Power Company reportedly had permission to run the line under the BCER right of way and planned to extend to Mission City, crossing the Abbotsford corridor. Messrs Sperling and Purvis reportedly continued their westward journey.
