Death of Mr Evans at Huntingdon leads to funeral service
The late W. Evans of Huntingdon died suddenly from heart disease. His funeral was held today at Mussolwaite cemetery with Mr Robertson of Abbotsford and Rev Mr Newman of Sumas officiating. He leaves a widow in Huntingdon, a daughter in Vancouver, another in Seattle, and two sons at the front. He was about 70 years old and had charge of the Dominion Government Quarantine, born at Huntingdon.

Mrs Campbell of New Westminster visited her sister Mrs McInnis. Stanley Parton was kicked during school football and taken home. Mr and Mrs Pickersop of Bellingham visited the McMaster household. Miss Margaret Smith, May Queen, will be called early on Empire Day. May Day committee votes to hold May Day on Empire Day May 24. May Queen ballots on April 12 elect Margaret Smith as Queen for 1918. she is Abbotsford’s first May Queen born there. A farewell party at the Masonic Hall for Mr and Mrs Rucker and family who moved toward Kamloops. Mr Wm Kennedy, J J McPhee, and R McCrimmon performed step dancing. a carving set and address were presented to the Ruckers.
