The room was nearly filled with ladies representing the several churob societies.The association proceeded to the election of officers for the enauiog year, with the following res alt;President—Mrs- J- A. McDonald, Mrs. 3* J- McCrnm.On motion a vole oft hack* was returned* *to the retiring offi^era.A resolution was adopted fixiog the membership feo of the association at one dollar.Also a resolution requesting !k visiting com mu tees to solicit monthly mbsoriptione in their respective wards, to be collected and paid into the treasury of the the association for tbo relief of the poor as ocoa-axon required.The project of erecting a city hospital was then diseased with general interest, and with decided expressions of unanimity as to the feasibility of the undertaking,A proposition was reed from Mr Geo, K. Andersen, pledging the requisite ground*, and upon motion a resolution was adopted accepting end returning thanks for the donation. •It was also announced that in additionto the offers of assistance already published, Metcra. W. 11 and E. A. L. Roberts had tendered a contribution of $5€0 toward the new hoepituLTbe following letter was reed to the association -Titusville. K. Anderson, for the donation of suitable groan da for the erection of m oity hospital, to Mr. A.A. Peirce for the offer of $200; to Messrs. Peirce and Chapin for the offer of grounds atid huilding material; to Messrs. W. B and E A. L Roberts for the offer nt $500, and to Messrs. Hall Boslwy, for the offer cl a sewing machine.It was suggested that a larger and more Central room be secured for the next meeting, and that £.11 gentlemen sympathising with the project be invited to meet with the ladie«r and lend them their practical cooperation.After some di^casrion of this proposition the following resolution v?aa presented :Resolved, That Mrs. 0. A. Sold on, Mrs. W. H. Abbott and Mrs. L, H. Severance be appointed a committee to confer with the officer** of the Titusville Oil Exchange and ascertain if the use of their room in the Pdrshall Qjoso cq be obtained for a masting of the Relief Association ; that the toommitte* be also authorized to extend a cordial invitation to members of the Oil Exchange, end *1! other oitiaeue sympathizing with the objeota of the Association, to meet with them on that occasion.Uoanimrualy adopted.On motion, the association thou adjourned till Friday next.| j^jn~— —The Feast of Tabehnacles —Thisfeast commenced t»et evening at fi o'clock, and will be observed seven days, the first day and the seventh day being days of prayer and thanksgiving among the Israelite?, to comai ecu orate the merciful guidance wherewith their forefathers were preserved daring forty days in the wilderness, where there was neither sowing nor harvesting. The Friaat of Tabernacles means the feast of tents, and it was anciently commemorated in booths covered with leaves, but is now held universally aa a fejist of thanksjriring and prayer. On the fifteenth day of the seventh month in the Jewish year, called Tthri, according to ihe Old Testament, shall be the Feast of Tabernacles for seven days unto the Lord. “Oa the first day ehatl be holy congregation, Ye shall do no servile work thereon. Oa the seventh day shall be a holy ooti'vocation unto you, and ye shall do no servile work thereon. Yc ahali dwell in booths seven days, that yonc generations may remember that I made the children of larbl dwell in booths when I brought them out from the laud of Egypt.” The feast is to this day universally observed by the Hebrew churches.
