Besides Quakers, the pacifist or peace church tradition is upheld by Mennonites, Amish and various Brethren groups, among others.Ail told, there are more than a hundred such denominations in the United States with a following of 1 million people. Though not considered strict pacifists, the 862,000 Seventh-day Adventists are asked never to bear arms and are allowed to take noncombatant jobs if they join the military.
