Dear Times:—According to promise, 1 will attempt to give you some general in formation respecting oar Camp, and mor« in particular of the “Ripoa Rangers.” By the way, I wish your readers to be generous With me, as this is my first debxn fts ft newspaper correspondent, and henceit is not probable that I shall be quite so concise nnd pithy us those who have grown gray as quill martyrs of the press. Rut, to proceed: Nothing of note transpired after leaving Rtpontill we arrived afcW'au. pan, where wo parted with the pleasure party from the former place—including the justly celebrated Zouaves. A t Burnett we were joined by the Fall River Co., Capfc. Grout, and at Pond du Lac, by the Co’s, of Capts. Burrows and JDeGroat.Leave-takings are becoming so common that but few witness or read of them with any considerable interest. But while the public becomes so habituated to these scenes that it looks on them but coldly, we predict that their frequency is but a poor panacea to the moihcr, who, after months of vacillation between hope and fear, is at length forced to throw her son on to the altar oT 3ns country and bid him a final “good-bye.”We arrived at Oshkosh at 2 o’clock do minutes p. m., and marched directly to Camp. As we passed through the gatewhich is tho entrance to the Camp groundswe saw the sentinels,' “firm paced and slow,” close behind us which indicated that we were no longer to be allowed the liberties of town.Arrived in Camp we were shown ourbarracks by the Q 31. andrcce.ved onrrations. A load of straw soon arrived and the boys stoutly contended to sec who should procure most for his “bunk.” Supper was soon announced. It consisted of bread, molasses and coffee without milk.Sunday morning we hud pork, potatoes, bread uml coffee, ever minus the milk; for dinner bread,. boiled peas and coffee, suns milk and sugar; for supper boiled beef, brcto.'? «nlt;* tf«-
