CZECH STEALS AIRPLANE AND ESCAPES TO AUSTRIA.. VIENNA, Austria Lfv-A Chechoslovakia ex-pilot stole a two-seater plane Saturday from a hangar in Brno, Czechoslovakia, packed izi his wife, two cliildren and a brother-in-law and flew to Austria where ho crash-landed and asked for political asylum, 1 am a bit out of practice, Janus Pavelka, 40, apologized to Austrian police for the landing hishap. His son, Janus Jr., 5, was slightly injured.Police said the other refugees were Eva Pavdka, 35, Maria Pa-velka, 4, and Vaclav P a n e u , the wife’s brother,Pavelka told police he had triedonce before to flee his Communist homeland to Austria—on foot—* but was captured by sentries and sentenced to three years in prison by a Ctechoslovak court.The family is from Nemecky Brod. about 60 miles frcrn the Austrian frontier.“Everybody went to the Brno Fair today,” Pavelka told the Austrians. Nobody was around to watch the hangars where they keep (he small sports planes. I opened the hangar doors and rolled out a plane. Nobody stopped me. We taxied to the runway and took off. Nobody tried to stop me in the air, either.
