MeConnelsville attorney assailed i be political opportunists and asserted j Qz that “no man should take ad van- a tage of the emotions of his people to inspire hysteria or to create panic.'*Ralph Cosgrave, district commander of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, presided at the conference, which opened with a morn- a ing session at the post rooms.State Supreme Court Judge Arthur H. Day was the principal speaker at the first business session. He lauded the VFW* Amer- na icanism program, declaring that constant vigilance will decrease the danger of subversive groups' seeking to undermine democracy! and the “American way of life.jVeterans and members of the auxiliary recessed at noon and went to the Y. M, C. Registration featured at the hall from 8:30 to 10 o'clock Sunday morning, followed by the business session from 19 to 12, a recess and social session from 12 to 1 and then the banquet.District Commander Cosgrave was toastmaster at the banquet. This -was opened with invocation by District Chaplain Walter H. Keller, followed by an address of welcome by Mayor Tom V. Moore-head; a selection ‘‘God Bless America” by the VFW quartet composed of Alva Richardson, Haloid Richardson, J. Merl Miller, post commander, Veterans of Foreign Wars.The ladies auxiliary district meet opened with registration in Ahepa Club, 630^ Main street from 8 to J0, followed by a business session from 10 to 12. after which the members attended the joint banquet and session at the Y.
