Mrs. William Valentine GoodellMiss Joyce Gwendolyn Burgess and William Valentine Goodell were united in marriage Saturday afternoon at 5 o’clock at All Saints Church In Chevy Chase, Maryland. The Reverend Stuart Irvin officiated.The nuptial music was presented by Bichard Roeekelein, organist.The bride is the daughter of Mrs. Mary Ruth Burgess of Rocky Mount and the late Robert C. Burgess. The bridegroom’s parents are Mr. and Mrs. Valentine 0. Goodell of Bethesda, Maryland.The marriage vows were spoken before a background ofchrysanthemums andand seven branch can-with white cathedralwhitegladiolidelabratapers.Givenin marriage by her brother-in-law, Robert D. Hoos of Raeford, the bride wore a candlelight ivory silk peau de soie gown, fashioned with empire waistline. The A skirt featured a chapel train attached with cabbage roses extending from the waist. Her fingertip veil of illusion was attached to a crown of seed pearls. She carried a bouquet of stephanotis and gardenias on a white prayer book. She wore a jade necklace given her by the bridegroom.Attend a illsMrs. Hoos was her sister’s matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Miss Nicki Berbakas, Miss Phyllis Wright and Miss Ann Sevayze of Washington, D. C. They wore identical full length gowns of r*ist velvet and beige crepe, featuring empire waist lines with panel trains. Their headpieces were matching velvet and tulle. They carried bouquets of gold chrysanthemums and wheat. Bryan Scott Hoos, nephew of the bride, was ring bearer.Stephan Goodell, brother cf the bridegroom, was best manand ushers were Chancle Hill of Rocky Mount, cousin of the bride, John Goodell of Bethesda,Maryland, brother of the bridegroom, Robert Gerber and Henry Steece of Washington, D. C.The bride’s mother wore a rose beige cteffon dress withmatching accessories and a corsage of bronze chrysanthemums. The bridegroom’s mother wore a sheath dress of aqua blue crepe with lace top and a corsage of white chrysanthemums.Following the wedding ceremony the bride’s mother entertained at a reception at the Naval Officers Club, Bethesda Naval Medical Center.For traveling the bride chose a beige brocade silk dress and jacket with matching satin trim and the gardenia from her bouquet. Following their wedding trip to New England, the young couple will make their home at 5341 Sanger Avenue, Alexandria, Virginia.The bride graduated from Rocky Mount High School and attended Atlantic Christian College. She was a member of the Sigma Tau Chi Sorority. She is presently employed by National Permanent Savings and Loan in Washington.The bridegroom received his degree in Physics at Lafayette College, Easters, Pennsylvania and did graduate work at Georgetown University in Washington.
