INegroes Face Mutiny ChargeSAN FRANCISCO, Sept. 14 /P)-Fifty negro enlisted men today went on trial on charges of mutiny in refusing to load a Navy ammunition ship as an aftermath of the Port Chicago explosion July 17 which claimed 322 lives.Lt. Comdr. Felthan Watson, senior judge advocate of the Twelfth * Naval District, termed it the largest 0 mass trial in Navy court martialhistory.Comdr, Joseph R. Tobin, commanding officer of the Mare Island Barracks testified he personally issued the loading order and said one of the men told his superior officer:“I don’t refuse to work, but I’m afraid of ammunition.’’
