MEETING OF TASIMANY LEADERS.They Fail to Assert Their Position Regarding the Presidential Struggle*The Tammany Hall leaders in the 'variousAssembly Districts of New York held a conference last night, at Tammany Hail, at the request of Mr. John Kelly, to consider the political situation. Those present beside Mr. Kelly were General F. B. Spinola, Register John Reilly, Coroner Bernard Martin, Police Justices Duffy, Gorman and Welde, Maurice F. Hola-han, Edward McCue, Fire Commissioner Croker, J. J. Slerin, ex-Cotmty Clerk H. A. Gumbleton, George Hall, B. N. Dugro, Senator G. W. Plunkitt, Aldermen Kirk and Grant, Colonel E. T. Wood, Peter Farrell, James Barker, Abraham Bernhard, James H. Martin andJames Fitzpatrick.Every Assembly District was represented either by the leader of that district or his delegate. Mr. Kelly, in stating the object of the meeting, said that he was desirous of learning from those present the feeling of the voters in the several districts upon the Democratic nomination at Chicago. One after another of the chieftains arose and told his story. While the majority of them stated that Cleveland was the favorite of their constituents, there wore others who were strong for Butler. None of the speakers displayed the usualamount of enthusiasm in mentioning Mr. Cleveland’s name. After all had expressed their views, although no vote was taken, it was decided to have the Committee on Organization, which meets on Monday evening, draw^np an address and a series of resolutions, which will he submitted to tho General Committee on Friday night. When asked last evening if Tammany would indorse the Chicago ticket, a prominent politician said:MI think the organization will support the ticket, although, of course, I cannot state positively that it will. Our decision will not he made kuown till Friday evening.”It swas also decided that straight county tickoshould be run instead of a coalition ticket. -
