sides guns, etc. They put us fellows who were to stay into different squads to act as corporals, and afterwards we were told that we went through all the formations like veterans. My spuad got excited and I had to talk to them all the time, to keep them from getting ahead of the line and ‘gumming’ the looks of it. When we went past the reviewing officer I was swearing at them just as fast as I could get it out of my system. We are not supposed to talk in ranks but in a case like that nobody objects, and besides, I spoke low, so it didn’t carry to the platoon commander.It has been d d hot here for acouple of weeks, but we got a rain yesterday, and another is looming up right now. so it will be pretty decent for the next day or so at least.
