PLAYGROUND AWARDS ARE MADEiList of Prizes Announced Monday by the Supervisor—Exhibition In Thayer Building a Decided Success—Gratifying Results Attained by Children During Summer MonthsiTie list of winners in the sewing, crocheting and knitting classes of the Norwich playgrounds was announcedby Supervisor Mary McKay on Monday.The flrst prize for plain sewing was awarded to Miss Lizzie Tempos to ofLake street, who made a little boy's romper suit. The second prize went to Mh» Marion £elucia also of the Lake street grounds who made a neat apron. Honorable mention was given Miss Lillian Murphy of Mt. Pleasant street who made a baby’s jacket.The prize for knitting was given Miss Rose Breckenbrldge of v Hobart Ave., who knit a muffler for the navy.The article was'well done and receivedmuch admiration. Miss Agnes Lynch of *Lke street was given honorable mention for four yards of tatting.The flrst prize for embroidery was awarded Miss Shirley Zouglas of Hobart Ave., for a cross stitch pillow top. The prize was a sweet grass sewing kit. Second prize, a sewing basket was given to Miss Mary Shapiro, Lake street for a bureau scarf.The prise for sewing and embroiderywas donated by Mrs. William H. Shields and that for knitting was given by Miss Mary JS. Rogers of Schoolstreet.The judges werefc Mrs. William H. Shields Mies Blisafceth Huntington. Miss Matilda Butts.The exhibition was held in the Thayer building on Saturday and was largely attended by parents and friends. The exhibit was a success and the girls de-deserve a great deal of credit for their work which was exceedingly neat and well done. The playgrounds have accomplished more this year along these lines than any previous years and aijwho took the opportunity to attendthe exhibit were well pleased with the work of the girls.The exhibit was in charge of Miss Theresa Leonard in the morning and Miss McKay had charge in the afternoon. ♦All the playgrounds closed Saturday noon after a most successful and enjoyable season. The attendance this past summer has been the best of any year.lt;Jljt
