The communique added: Mopping up operations against enemy troops in the rest of thebattle areas is continuing.”CAIRO fifl — Egyptian and Israeli troops and airmen clashed deep within Egypt’s Sinai Peninsula today as the U.N. Security Council was called into session to!deal with the outbreak.Egyptian President Nasser was reported to have ordered a general mobilization as the fighting looked more and more like war. Israel had gone on a war footing over the weekend.Syria Reported MobilizingThe Syrians also were reported by the Damascus newspapers to have ordered a state of general mobilization. Civilian buses and trucks were put at military disposal. Antiaircraft guns were erected in the Syrian capital, and civil defense exercises were ordered there and in Aleppe.(Antiaircraft fire opened up in Cairo at 4:10 p.m. (9:10 a.m. EST) today.(Cairo airport was ordered closed until further notice, cutting off all exit from Egypt by air.
