Kumo plant . makes many; iron moulds !Kumo Foundry, whichmanufactures made-to-order , iron casting was started in 1898 in , Quincy and moved to Keokuk in 1936 |The plant makes a variety or products ranging from moulds 1for Foote Mineral Co to products for the brick behive and i kitchenware industries The 1 moulds, which range from a quarter of a pound to 2,500 pounds are shipped to Kentucky, Ohio, Washington, Illinois, Missouri and Nebraska.Kumo has nine employes, eight in the foundry and one in the office. They work a single shift, since moulds are only poured once or twice a week In a recent week, six tons of metal were poured. The current owner, Fred Scheffler, bought the business from Ellis Moelring and Richard Stattler in Januaay of 1975 Before that Scheffler had worked at Keokuk Steel Casting and 15 years at St. Louis Die Casting
