Two veterans have been approved for the private pilpt course and others have sent in applications. AN applications must be approvedby the veterans administration inDes Moines.Nearly 100 veterans became private pilots here following World war II under the free government training program until tightening of restrictions practically closed the course a little more than a year ago. A new taw which, went Into effect in September has again opened the training to veterans who plan to use flying for business purposes.Iowa Flight service has been approved for the commercial course by the civil aeronautics administration, the state department of public instruction and the veterans administration.Already approved for enrollment in commercial pilot training are six Fort Dodgers who earlier obtained private pilot licences hero through the GI training program. They are James C. Dickerson. Milo Kline, Edwin L Knowles, Russell Lott, Clyde Rodrelek and Ralph H. Rumbaugh. Four others have made application for the course.Signed up for private pilot training are Robert Chapman nf Fort Dodge and Leo Elchelberger of Palmer. Papers of four others have gone to Des Moines for approval.Flight training will be given in Aeronca and Stinson monoplanes of Iowa Flight service. Manchester, Kenneth Clark and James Rigby, flight Instructors, will give the pilot training, and Mr. Manchester will be ground school instructor.A new model Piper Clipper will be added to the training planes in January, and the school expects to get approval to add a muKi-engine training course at a later date.Vetcrons interested in the flight training program may obtain further information at the airport administration office.1:
