Doran, son of Mrs. Amelia Doran, 137 Cherry street, previously reported missing in action since Sept. 30 in the North African war theater, has returned to duty.That was the welcome information received late Thursday afternoon by his mother from the war department.. “It’s almost too good to be true,” Mrs. Doran told The Journal, after reading a message addressed to Doran’s wife, which said:“I am pleased to inform you that the commanding general of the North African area reports your husband, Tech. Sgt. George F. Doran, who was previously reported missing in action returned to duty Oct. 8.”The message was relayed immediately to Sgt. Doran’s wile, who is making her home at Lang-don, N. D.Getting back into service is not a new experience for Sgt. Doran. Serving as a crewman on an army bomber, he was fobced down behind enemy lines in Tunisia in November, 1942 with five companions. All were subsequently rescued by another, plane.Sgt. Doran was credited in an Associated Press dispatch of Aug. 23, 1943, with, shooting down a Messerschmidt plane when American raiders staged a raid over Salerno, Italy.He has been in the army for | approximately three years.
