The annual (J. A. A. Christmas carol service was held yesterday afternoon in the gym. Lovely old carols were sung by seventy-five girls in the atmosphere of beauty created by massed evergreen, the light of candelabra and processional tapers, and a tall Gothic window representing stained glass, actually painted organdy through which light streamed upon the white stairs descending from it.Mrs. Foster Kike sang beautifully the old melody, “(’antique de NoelM; Mrs. I). L. Couvicellor sang “The Birthday of a King”; Mrs. Mark Reitzel sang “Lovely Appear.”In white robes Jane Andrews, Geraldine Councellor, and Lois Reitzel sang “We Three Kings”; Marion McCoy, Rida Giff-row, and Dorothy Schueler sang “O Little Town of Bethlehem”; and Catherine Wes-ner, Lois Wahl, Ksther Bley, and Allenc Besse sang “Silent Night.”Mrs. Kike led the group singing, accompanied by Ray Bjork.Miss Yeager planned the service and Mrs. Marsh designed the cathedral window which was painted by M!ss Yeager and the girls.This annual service of the Girls’ Athletic Association is one of the most beautiful and unique programs ever given at S. H. S. Many mothers and friends attend each year.Mother Taken By DeathMr. Iloogeveen was called from class this morning by a message announcing the death of his mother of Hills, Minnesota following an operation at Sioux Falls, South Dakota.To Mr. Iloogeveen we extend our sympathy. We regret that sorrow and grief have come to him at a season when it might least have been anticipated.
