Last Thursd *y we march-, i in the big Bed Cross parade down Fifth avenue in New York from Seven -iy-ninth street to Eighth street (seventy-one squares). We started to inaYcii at 12:15 and it was 2:40 o'clock whenProsser and I reached Eighth street.It was 3;45 when the parade ended s vou see it was seme parade. It was the first of its kind ever witnessed in the F. S. A. and vs is sure a howling ; s- ess. The big hospitalshere were represented as Mr. Siani, Bellevue, etc., and there were 30‘* pro- T bationers marched, Relt;i Cross nurses, public health nurses, grad nte ar.d nurses’ aids of all kinds and Red Cross workers It was an immense thing and the streets were crowded all the 1 way. There were 29 bands In all. ;Then on Friday night a New York society bug entert tin* 1 us at a theatre party here in Hoboken. They had three reels of g iod movie Path* news! and four or five vaudeviHr acts On Saturday afternoon the Red Cross F entertained us at Oarnegie Music Hail.It is a wonderful hall. An immense s stage and first floor, then two rows of t boxes all the way around the theatre, lt;j eight chairs in each *ox and thirty-two boxes in each row-; then two im- tmouse balconies ab ve ail this s usa's : band, 250 pieces, played front 2:3*• until a 3:45 o'clock. The boys were dress d as sailors and the music was surely in- ii spiring After this they gave the sec- t ond half of the great Rosemary T’ag-eant with an all star cast including s K'hel Barrymore, E. H. Soth* rn a no d other noted actors and actresses Tt represented all the nations, hurt and ; devastated by the Germans begging of v Truth, Justice and Law, help for their *people. The music was furnish- , ‘ ed by the New York Symphony drlt; hes- I tra. of which you have often read. •After this we went to .see the Red -Cross Parade on the screen .and had to 1 go to the roof garden of the theatre to see them as the theatre proper was ^ full Ladies and gentlemen both 1 smoked up there It was a beautiful 1 place— wonderful pools, paintings and I scenery. lt;»wls were sitting arounl ev-ervwhere with different colored eyes.Beautiful lanterns were everywhere,Sunday Prosser and I went to the M.E. church. We heard a wonderful ser- * mon and choir and we took communion services After church we ate dinner and then went down to the New' York Bay and took a steamer trip around j N«w York. We went up the East river to the Hudson river and down the 1 Hudson to New York Bay. We saw many interesting sights—a Holland embargo of ships, a fleet of war ships, jsubmarine chasers, the Brooklyn navy jvards. the stafe prison. New York's I„lt; Tity Home, Soldiers’ and Sailors’ * monument. Ellis, Bedlow, Blackwell j and Governor’s Islands and a million lt;other things that I don't recall.
