The Bronze Star for Heroism, the Purple Heart and other mil itary decorations have recently been awarded posthumously to Pfs. Michael F. Deeny 111., a Fairless Hills paratrooper killed in Vietnam last May.The posthumous awards werepresented by Lt. Col. George Caras, chief of supply branch at Valley Forge General Hospital, to Mrs. Patricia Deeny. his wife, at her Wistar Court Apartments in Fairless Hills.Deeny, 18, was killed in action during a bombing near Da Nang. His wife accepted the Bronze Star, the National De fense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service medal, the Viet nam Campaign ribbon, the Com bat Infantryman Badge, the Ex pert Rifleman’s Badge and the Parachutist Badge.The citation for the Bronze Star in part read: “His initia tive. zeal, sound judgment ind devotion to duty have been in the highest tradition of the Unit ed States Army and reflect great credit on him and on the military service.”
