Maurice Purnell diesMaurice Eugene Purnell, 66, of Dallas, a senior partner in the law firm of Locke, Purnell, Boren, Laney and Neely, and a member of the board of directors of the A. H. Belo Corp., died unexpectedly Friday.Purnell’s firm has represented the A. H. Belo Corp., owners of News-Texan Inc., publishers of the Daily News, since 1926. Purnell had been amember of the Belo board of directors since 1950.He was the second member of the Belo directorate to diewithin a week. Chairman of the Board H. Ben Decherd died last Saturday after a long illness.Purnell is survived by his wife, a daughter, Marjorie Purnell, and a son, Maurice Eugene Purnell Jr.
