NACO, Ariz.. Nov. 25.—The coroner's jury, summoned by Justice Poison, of Naco. to inquire into the cause of the death of Mrs. Kncina, last Wednesday. after finding that she was shot by a bullet fired from Mexico, when lise was preparing a meal at her home in Naco, Arizona, continued as follows:“We further find that for a long time prior to the death of the decedent, formal protests had been lodged with the military officers in com-mnnd of the federal troops at Naco. and had been transmitted to the government at Washington and to the seat of local government at Phoenix, protesitng against the indiscriminate firing across tlie international line by Mexican heligerants. and pointing out in detail the danger to life and property on the American side and the necessity for some action on the part of the federal government to protect the life and property of citizens on the American side of the !nlerna‘ional line, whose property has been subjected for more than sixty days to the risk of damage and loss and whose lives are now constantly and for more than sixty days have been constantly exposed to the perils of rifle fire and shrapnel from the Mexican side of the International line, and that ;it the time of thla hearing, so far as can he learned, no action has b°*n *ak.?ii to protect American lives and property, and no definite assurance nor facts exist from which deduction can be made as to the probable duration of the buttle now waging across the international line, in and about the town of Naco, Sonora; that the death of the decedent was the result of reckless. unlawful and unnecessary filing across the line which might have been averted, by adequate end timely precautions adopted for tne protection of American lives and prope*iv.“O.
