Crossing tli« Contlnont Afoot and Aloiio.J, M. Raport, the man who has attempted to walk across the continent in a limited time and on a wager of $15,000, arrived here yesterday afternoon. Ho left New .York City on May 10th and is due at Ban Francisco on Dec ember lat. Among the conditions were that he was to start without a cent and cover the entire distance on foot, beg his way or earn enough on the trip to pay bis ordinary expenses. His trip a3 far as Ogden was comparatively easy, but he has had some rough ex-~ periences crossing Nevada. He has worn oat six pair of Bhoes and throe sails of clothes. At each station or section house ho has the agent or section boss sign and stamp a book with the date und such other data as is necessary. He carries a large number of newspaper clippings and relates his experiences in a felicitious mauner that is entertaining and amusing. He says tho Riverside is the best hotel west of Omaha, He leaves for the west this morning and expects to mnke Truckee to-night.
