Staff Sergeant Roman Urbanski, j son of Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Urbanski, of De Pue, twice-wounded while serving with the Ninth infantry division overseas, is now on a three-day furlough from Mayt general hospital, Galesburg, where he is receiving treatment for his wounds.Sgt. Urbanski, who enlisted for service in 1940, participated in the North African and Sicilian campaigns, returning to England for the invasion assault on the European mainland. He was wounded the first time near St. Lo, returning to England for treatment.Oct. 13, 1944, while attackingGerman pillboxes in the Hurtgen forest, he was wounded the second time, receiving fractures of the collar bone and left elbow. While lying in the forest an American tank passed over his legs, fracturing them above the knee. He lay helpless for six hours until aid could reach him through heavy fire.He was sent to the ’States early this year, first being sent to Spo-j kane, Wash., for treatment and later j to Galesburg. He expects transfer to another hospital in the near future. * V *-
