In 1861 sarno 1,500 Indiana held a ! war council at the mouth of the Walker and compleled plana to capture Ft, Churchill, but their secret leaked out and wiser counsel prevailed. In 1.S62 all the attention of the troops in Ft. Churchill was given to the Indians in Owens lUver Valley. In 1863 John F. i Hale, foreman of the Masou ranch, killed Ezadwa, a Piute Chief.
