Photos of Pershing defense1featured in magazinePreviously unpublished photographs on Gen. John J- Pershing’s defense of southern New Mexico from Pancho Villa’s raiders appear in the fall'lssue of El Palacio, quarterly magazine from the Museum of New Mexico.News photographer Harold Palmer Brown, who died seven years ago at age 88, covered the aftermathof the March 9, 1916, raid in Columbus, N.M., for William Randolph Hearst’s International Film Service. Brown's unpublished collection of negatives shows American troops arriving in the Qrcii and setting up defenses.Brown also traveled over to Texas wherehe photographed members of Villa’s immediate family and Sra.
