- - —------- - lC^wguniUH.Post dedicates monumentBy TED POTTSTHE TRIBUNE DEMOCRATHOOVERSVILLE - Veterans of Foreign Wars Thirteen Star Post 7565 will dedicate a monument to members of the military from the Hooversville area who were killed in action in World War I, World War II and the Korean and Vietnam wars.The monument is in historic Pleasantdale Cemetery here on the banks of the Stonycreek River.It will be dedicated at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, which is Veterans Day.Alvin Ogline of Barn Street, post commander, will speak.He said the monument is inscribed with 21 names - the one resident who was killed in World War 1,12 in World War n, three in Korea and five in Vietnam.Here are those who are being memorialized:■ World War I: Elmer Rowser.■ World War II: Charles Beltrami, Homer Berke-bile, Nick Bonitz, Preston Firl, Edward Meyers, Carl Orasin, Joseph Pysnik, Robert Robinson, Harold Shaffer, Elmer Shaffer Jr., Cloyd Zimmerman and Vernon Zimmerman.■ Korea: Howard Hahn Jr., Frank Kolonich Jr. and William Mitchell.■ Vietnam: Paul Grine, Robert Haines, Gordon Kimmel, James Nicholson and Carl Walker.Ogline, speaking by telephone from his home, said the post members are hoping relatives and friends of the deceased veterans will attend.He said the memorial is a marble-based bench thatis 48 inches long, 18 inches high and 14 inches wide.The names of the deceased veterans are inscribed on the bench’s top.
