(Journal photo)Two carloads of food for starving Europeans will be hitched on to the Friendship Train this evening when the Atlantic - bound train pulls into Reno at 6 o'clock.That means that Nevadans, inless than a week, have donated 126 tons of food for the goodwill tram. Volunteers workers have been busy for two days, packaging the food and loading it into the cars.Gov. Vail Pittman will be aboard the Friendship Tram when it amves in Reno tonight. The governor will fly from Carson City to Sacramento this morning, and officially accept the train for Nevada from Gov. Earl Warren of California,The train arrives in Sacramento at 10:45 a.m., and will leave at 11:45 a.m.I am tickled to death at the response the people of Nevada have made to the Friendship Train,*’ the chief executive of the stale said last night. ’’Every man, woman and child of Nevada has right to be proud.”City Manager Emory Branch of Reno also will be aboard the train d:i the trip from Sacramento.A short program has been arranged here while the cars are being hitched to the Friendship Tram, George Vargas, Reno attorney, will be master of ceremonies, end talks are expected to be made by Gov Pittman and Mayors F. R. Smith of Reno and Vern Hursh of Sparks, as well as other officials.Gov. Pittman said he had arranged for Stewart Indian School’s costumed band to be in Reno to greet the train.Members of the citizens' food committee said yesterday that donations include four large trucks from Elko, two trucks from Love-• lock, two from Las Vegas and Tonopah, one from Ely and one from Carson City.In addition, there were truckloads of food sent in from all nearby towns, including Fallon, Yerington, Gardnerville, Sparks,' Verdi, Virginia City.The Friendship Train, which rolled into Oakland last night, had II cars, and it was expected 10 more cars would be added there. At Sacramento, it was scheduled to pick up two cars.The Friendship Train, carrying Charles Luckman, chairman of President Truman’s citizens’ food committee; Gov, Warren, Washington Columnist Drew Pearson and other notables, was the center of a huge civic celebration last night in Oakland.A mammoth parade, headed by 24 bands, marched through the heart or the city to the station to bring the bay area's official greetings to the train and its passengers. Public ceremonies were held at the station where the crowd was addressed by Luckman, Gov. Warren, Pearson, Oakland's Mayor Joseph E. Smith and Gov. Ingram M. Stainback of Hawaii. *-
