Six Heinkel Ill’s were accounted for on a recent Eighth Air Force combat mission by P~4? Thunderbolt pilot, 1st Lt. Allen G. McGuire, 26, son of Mr. and Mrs. William McGuire, Clarksville. The Heinkels are being used by the Germans to send flying bombs against England, carrying them “piggy back” and releasing them over the North Sea. Later the famed 78th Fighter Group learned that they had destroyed 40 German planes in strafing attacks on three airfields that day. Lieutenant McGuire has flown, over 40 combat missions over Europe. His wife, Mrs. Fay McGuire, lives in Avery, Tex.
