Friendship Train Quofa SurpassedNot one, but two box cars, each with a 63-ton capacity, were loaded today at Virginia st. and Commercial row as Nevada’s wholehearted response to the plea to fill just one car of the Friendship train surpassed all expectations.The amazing results of the drive were even more gratifying, said chairman of the Reno Food committee, Karl Brecken-ridge, considering the extremely short time state and cityorganizations had to get the drive underway.Food donations, ranging from the three tons of ready-foT-expart packed goods from the Sierra ordnance depot in Herlong to the individual cans of xmik brought in by school tots, became so large that more than 70 volunteer workers and firemen were kept busy until 11 p. m. Friday packing the contributions for shipment.Gov. Vail M. Pittman will accept the Friendship train of behalf of Nevada at a ceremony to be held in Sacramento at 10:45 a. m. Sunday. The Nevada executive will make the trip to the California capital by private plane in the morning.Accompanying the train from Hollywood is California's Gov, Earl Warren, and he will meet Gov. Pittman at Sacramento and at a formal ceremony, turn over the custody of the train to thisstate.On arriving at Reno at 6 p. m., Gov. Pittman will preside at the ceremonies during the two-hour stay in this city. Gov. Pittman said he had requested the Indian band firom Stewart to take part in the Reno ceremony.Augmenting Reno donations were substantial cash or group food contributions turned in by the Rotary, Lions, Kiwanis, 20-30, Op-himists. Soroptimists, Business andProfessional Womens, and Exchange clubs.State donations that poured into Reno from all parts of Nevada until late Friday night made up more than half of the total food contributed to the drive,The train left Los Angeles Friday night with a typical search-lighted Hollywood send-off. Four more cars were added to the eight car quota alloted to the southern part of the state, and it is expected that the train will be hauling 200 cars when it reaches the New YorkHnflf.ii
