Mrs, Ernestine Hedstrora ...... 1,00 *PKREfSLER, VIOLINIST, BARRED IFROM PITTSBURGH CONCERTt:PITTSBURGH, pa., Nov. 7—Charles S'. P Hubbard, director of public safety, today f:ordered the police department to refuse _a uconcert license to Capt. Fritz Krelsler, the violinist, who was advertised to appear In Carnegie Music Hall tomorrow 1 ^ evening. The director stipulated, how-! t ever, that Krefsler’s manager be allowed ‘ n to cancel the engagement before the or- | u der was enforced. It was also announced 0 that another concert at which Krelsler « was to appear as accompanist on Satur- r day had already been canceled by the j £ local-management. Director Hubbard re- ■■ ceived protests from a number of patri-lc otic organizations and from many indi- ' viduals against the Kroisler concerts. They took the ground that since Krelsler was an officer in the Austrian Army and b Austria was the ally of America’s enemy, I it would be unpatriotic to permit him to appear at a public entertainment.
