It was presented to Mrs. .Jack 0. Miller, Senior State president, Texas Society, Children of the American Revolution, to hang in the Texas Society Children of American Revolution Headquarters Building.The gift was from Mrs. Hugh B, Ruckman .Jr. of Karnes City who gained ownership of the charter upon the death of her mother, Mrs. R. L. Dalton (Lelia Blanche Chalk.) The presentation was made in Mrs. Dalton’s former home.The charter was dated May 1900 in Fort Worth. The Society was organized by Mrs. Dalton’s sister, Mrs. William T. Scott, who was also its first president. Mrs. Scott was widowed and later married Harry Hyman. Mrs. Hyman, State DAR regent at the time, organized the Alamo Chapter DAR in 1913. She was regent of Alamo Chapter from 1915 to 1923. Mrs. Dalton, a Life Member of Alamo Chapter, was also the first treasurer.The gift was obtained through the efforts of Mr. and Mrs, Clinton 0. Dalbec.
