A part of tho material for tho soldiers’ monument has arrived from Vermont, and will at once removed to the site of tho structure, on Main strcct,belweoa 11th and 12:b. Tlxu foundation la ulredy completed. Tho contractor, Mr. R, J. Carter, ol South Ryegate, Vermont, has been here and arrauged hla forces for tlio Immediate prosecution of the work. Within three weeks, at most, tho work will bo ready for dedication. The Main street gutters and walks adjacent to the mounmont have been altered to suit the curvaturo ot the alto. This work linn been well done under thesuperintendence ot J. M. Parkor, JCaq.All that la no w needed to cover the success ol tho undertaking is about $1,000 inoro in money.
