Local Plant On Sylvania WorkHerzog Co. Making Mica InsulatorsThe R. W. Herzog Co. this weejc stalled production of mica insulators for Sylvania Products Co, of Emporium.To what extent the local plant will be engaged in manufacturing these Insulators is not definitely known at present but it la expected that several complete units of splitting, sorting and punching the mica will be installed.During the recent conflict the Herzog company employed nearly 165 women in this work and the Backus Novelty Company Is reported to have had over 400 workers on their payroll. The latter company has been engaged in. Sylvania work to -some extent since the war ended but not nearly as much as during the war.The Emporium concern had expanded greatly during the war and the local plants were engaged in making parts of the proximity fuse used in defense against enemy aircraft, It is said thia shell was one of the main factors in ending the war. •The addition of this work will gl7$ employment to many in Smefchport anti is, therefore, most welcome.
