FATHER OF WAR HERO TO RECEIVE BUTTONPHILADELPHIA. May 28 lt;AP) —A Schuylkill county man, whose son was awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor posthumously, is to be given the first Gold Star button presented in Eastern Pennsylvania.Cyrus Messerschmidt of Barnes-ville will be given the button on Monday in connection with Memorial Day services at the Vine street cemetery in Hazleton.Messerschmidt’s son, Sgt. Harold C Messerschmidt, was given the Medal of Honor posthumously for“conspicuous gallantry and intre-pidity above and beyond the call ol duty near Raddcn. France. Sept.17, 1944.•Col. James B Carroll, executive officer of the Eastern Pennsylvania military district, said the button award will be one of seventy presented throughout the nation on Monday, symbolizing the award of such buttons to the next-of-kin of men and women who died in the service in World War Two.
