Police iProbation givenA 28-year-old Pinehurst man charged with aggravated assault on a police officer was placed on five years probation Friday in 163rd District Court.Richard Charles Price appeared before Judge David Dunn and pleaded no contest to the charges of aggravated assault.But after hearing evidence in the case, the court found Price guilty of the offense of aggravated assault on a police officer and sentenced him to five years probation.According to court records, the offense occurred on Sept. 30,1988 after Price led a Pinehurst police officer on a high speed chase in a 30 mile per hour speed zone.After stopping Price, the officer detected a strong odor of alcohol and took Price to the county jail for an intoxication test that he passed.When the officer told Price that he would have to go to the Pinehurst Police Department to bond out on the charges of driving without a driver’s license and investigation of driving while intoxicated, Price refused and kicked the officer when he tried to handcuff him.On a motion to impose guilt, Price was also sentenced to five years probation and a $750 fine for an aggravated assault offense that occurred on Dec. 23, 1987.Court records stated that Price was placed on three years deferred probation and fined $750 on March 3, 1988 for charges that stemmed from a family disturbance at his residence.Tvpastresicbeenownlt;Jii noti Sher at 4: Ac and and dow,phorswas$400horsBlwenthegom Ju wen 10 s Com beer 9:40 depjOtheresicasjwasAGoaSt.,SatiAPatGosSmireseve:butthe
