We Wifi Never DieWith slightly more than a week’s time remaining, production plans are rapidly crystallizing for the presentation of the dramatic spectacle ‘‘We Will Never Die” to be presented in the Chicago Stadium, Wednesday evening, May 19.From New York, Washington, and Philadelphia, where the pageant was previously staged, has come the approval of thousands who witnessed the unfolding of the tragedy and glory of a people that is written in the chapters of human achievement as told in the ‘-We Will Never Die”pageant.The creation of such a drama was first kindled in the mind of Ben Hecht when he wrote “Remember Us,” published in the American Mercury and later appearing in Reader’s Digest. Supporting his ideas were Moss Hart, Billy Rose and Kurt Weill. From their combined talent was created the script, the production, the staging and the music of “We Will Never Die.’’They secured the assistance of Soin-tu Syrjala, who made his mark on the American theater with settings for such plays as “Children’s Hour.” “Stevedore,” “Pins and Needles,” and “Fight For Freedom.” Herman Rot-sten, assistant t-o Hart and director ofthe Chicago presentation; Don Hirseh and Marian Noble as stage director and assistant respectively, who also have given their services to the past presentations, are now here Dut-tins the final touches to the Chicago production.1iAs the message of “We Will Never Die” unfolds the spectators sit silently and when the last word is said and the final note sounds, ihev walk from.11-! aIthe pageant halls haunted by the re-; ^Jmrring cry of all persecuted minorities everywhere. “Remember Us.” The 'pirit of the production is captured in these two words and carries with it he undying theme of free men in a!1' rec world walking side by side with he cause of the Uuited Nations.The cast, composed almost exclusively of Chicagoans, has caught the spirit they are to interpret.
