Fifth GradersVisit CivilDefense OfficeSeventy Henderson fifth graders visited the ClarkCounty Civil Defense Headquarters at Arden, Nevada, Tuesday, May 5.The children heard a briefer describe emergency procedures and the conditions under which they would liveif required to seek safety inone of Clark County’s shelters. Survival rations were tasted including carbohydrate candy and crackers. Reaction to the candy was favorable -the crackers? - only so-so!Civil [Defense staff members conducted a tour through the county emergency operating center. (Here the children learned how the Clark County Commissioners and other county officials would continue governmental operatingequip a hospital. These items range from abrasives to £ ray film, from typewriters to wringers, from cotton to boilers. All of this, of course, requires money.
