REUNION AT VAUGHAN—Three officers and one enlisted man who spent almost three years in Jap prison camps in the Philippines before they were liberated by American forces, held an informal reunion at Vaughan General hospital where all are convalescing. Left to right are: Lt. Col. Stephen C. Sitter, Milwaukee; Maj. Charles J. Katz, 133f| North Scoville; Cpl. Dale Gilbert, Rochelle; and Lt. Matthew S. Mac Do well, Maywood. Col. Sitterand Major Katz were on the staffof Sternberg General hospital, Manila, then commanded by Brig. Gen. P. J. Carroll; now commanding general of Vaughan, when the Pacific war started. They, along with Cpl. Gilbert, were among those confined at Cabana tuan prison until they were liberated by the 6th Rangers Battalion last January 30. L;. MacDcwell, who was a platoon commander in the 192nd Tank Battalion (Maywood tank unit) was in Bilibid Prison, Manila. He was liberated February 4. All four have gained considerable weight since arriving at Vaughan.Newspapers, magazines, food cartons, fibrebord, wrapping paper all are needed for the waste-paper collections, second Saturday of each month.
