from the National Tntelligtneer; 1 Wasbinot*!*, May 8.FROM HARRISON'S ARMT.A BATTLE.A letter has been received this day from Huron, in OhioK by the expiess mail from the post-office agent, announcing that the express mail had not been able to apprsaeh Fort Meigs, in conac. quence of hearing on its approach an incessant firing of cannon and Biwal* arms.It was first heard at Sandushy on Friday, the 30th April, and continued firing at the time the express came away' The firing fcad ceased once from which it ia presumed that the enemy had returned te the attaak after being ance repulsed. Some persona had gone with-* in two miles of the Fort, and one vcn-| tured within half a mile and bo pear a* distinctly to see the flash of the cannon through the tieaa. The r un ber cftl e enemy is not known. We wait ,with extreme anxiety fer Wednesday’* express mail, though we have no fears for the result, as letters have been received here from Fort iV!eigs as late as the Cfith April, at which tirr.e no apprehensions were entertained for the result of any altaok.’
