THE NEW EDWARDSVILLE CIVIL DEFENSE HEADQUARTERS pictured above was used for the first time Tuesday and Wednesday of this week during a nationwide CD exercise named “Operation Alert 1958.” The structure, the bandstand located in Leclaire lake park, has just'recently been rebuilt by the City of Edwardsville for the purpose of hous mg the CD headquarters in the basement. Work is still in progress on the outside of the building and a permanent radio antenna is yet to be placed at the site. CD equipment used during the alert was placed in the building on a temporary basis and will be permanently installed at a later date. (Intelligencer photo)! * w** « » -v _
